Toddler Soccer Overview

Our First Touch Program provides the first exposure to the game for most children and emphasizes fun, excitement, and positive reinforcement. Our toddler programs aim to:

  • Introduce soccer in a developmentally appropriate way.
  • Develop socialization skills and help build a sense of community.
  • Guide parents in age-appropriate soccer activities.

First Touch encompasses the following age groups.

  • 2 to 3-year-olds: This program is loosely structured, and parental interaction is essential. The program:
    • Introduces soccer in a developmentally appropriate way.
    • Develops socialization skills and helps build a sense of community for both toddlers and parents.
    • Nurtures the development of early motor skills: running, jumping, skipping, kicking a ball, etc…
    • Guides parents in age appropriate activities that they can utilize on a daily basis.
  • 3 to 5-year-olds: This program starts to introduce a more structured approach to soccer learning, which requires players to listen and to follow directions, and begins to familiarize players with the concept of teamwork. The program:
    • Introduces soccer in a developmentally appropriate way.
    • Develops socialization skills and helps build a sense of community for both toddlers and parents.
    • Nurtures the development of early motor skills: running, jumping, skipping, kicking a ball, etc…
    • Guides parents in age appropriate activities that they can utilize on a daily basis.
    • Begins to familiarize players with the concept of teamwork.
    • Fosters the child’s ability to listen and follow directions
    • Cultivates the development of problem solving skills to encourage children to think independently and answer questions presented by the coach.

Fairmount Soccer is a volunteer run , non-profit organization that strives to provide high quality instruction and guidance essential for player development, safety, and enjoyment, at as low a cost as possible. Recognizing that the registration fees may be prohibitive for some families, Fairmount Soccer offers scholarships in an effort to insure that no child will be excluded due to economic hardship. For more information about partial and full scholarships, please email: fsaintramural@gmail.com.
