About Our Spring Program

Our Spring Program will once again enroll children ages 5 through 13.  A child’s age on August 1, 2007 is their “playing age” for the entire 2007 Season, which includes Spring 2008.  If  you want your child to play in an age group other than the one the computer will assign them to based on their birthdate, you must send an email to info@fairmountsoccer.org.

Times and Locations    New this year, the Eyas (ages 5 and 6) and the Juniors  (ages 7 and 8) will play on Saturday mornings at the beautiful Starfinder Urban Promise Center in Manayunk at 4015 Main Street.  The Urban Promise Center is a wonderful new turf indoor facility.  Both groups will be led by Tony Williams, President and Founder of the Starfinder Foundation.  The Eyas will play on Saturday at 9 AM and the Juniors will play at 10AM for an hour.  This is a great opportunity for our kids to play with a professional trainer in a state of the art facility.  These sessions will focus on ball handling skills and small sided games.

The Intermediate (ages 9 and 10) and the Senior (ages 11 through 13) Divisions will play on Sunday mornings from 1:00PM to 2:30PM, at Edgely Fields, our outdoor fields in Fairmount Park where we have our Fall Season.  At the beginning of each session, the Trainers  (Keith and Eric Jutkowitz, longtime Fairmount Soccer players and now students at Temple) will work with both groups together on both individual  and team skills, and then the age groups will separate for their games.  New this season for the Spring, we hope to have enough players to have small set teams, as opposed to the “pick-up” format we used last year.

Dates    Spring Soccer will start on  April 19/20 and continue for 6 weeks, skipping Memorial Day Weekend.  The last Session will be May 31/June 1.

Equipment   Each player must wear shin pads to each session.  If  the child was not issues soccer socks in an earlier season, we will provide a pair.  Special soccer shoes are not required, neither on the artificial turf  or the natural grass.  Each child should bring a ball to each session.  The Eyas should bring a Size 3 ball ;  All other players should have a Size 4 Ball.  All players will be issued a Spring 2008 T-Shirt.

Fees  The fee is still $60 for Spring Intramural Soccer.

Practices  There are no mid-week practices in Spring Intramural Soccer.  Each group will meet once a week.

Questions   You may email us at info@fairmountsoccer.org with questions.
